What if the symbols on the Phaistos Disc were not phonetic writing, but a set of ideograms used to preserve and reconstruct stories?
Rather than asking the player to accept that idea as an argument, this game lets them try the method.
First, the player learns a set of glyphs through scenes from European folk-tale Jack and the Beanstalk. They then use the same glyphs to reconstruct scenes from Japanese folk-tale Momotarō, testing whether the symbols can carry recognizable narrative ideas across two different stories.
It is part puzzle, part interactive demonstration, and part experiment in visual storytelling. A playthrough should last from 30 to 45 minutes.
